TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE II WEEK 3

TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE II
WEEK 3
01/12/2025 - 05/12/2025

INTRODUCTION

The week was planned with a balanced blend of curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities aimed at enriching students’ learning experiences. Classroom teaching focused on developing conceptual clarity in science through demonstrations, assessments, and interactive sessions. Alongside academic learning, various awareness programmes, celebrations of important days, and school-level responsibilities such as mid-day meal distribution and civic awareness classes contributed to the holistic development of students. Together, these activities created an engaging and meaningful learning environment throughout the week.

CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Monday – Magnetization (Class 8, Physics)

During the 5th period, the concept of magnetization was introduced to Class 8. Students were shown how materials can be converted into magnets through simple processes. Demonstrations using a bar magnet, pin, and steel objects helped them understand temporary and permanent magnetization. The session focused on developing curiosity through hands-on observation.

Tuesday – True Solution and Suspension (Class 9, Chemistry)

In the first period, Class 9 students learned about true solutions and suspensions. The characteristics of each mixture were explained with everyday examples. Simple experiments were demonstrated to help students differentiate between transparency, particle size, and sedimentation. Students actively participated in identifying examples from their surroundings.

03/12/2025 Wednesday – 1st period Colloids (Class 9, Chemistry)

The first period was dedicated to teaching colloids. The session began with a recap of solutions and suspensions, followed by the introduction of colloidal systems. Properties such as the Tyndall effect and particle size were demonstrated. Students were encouraged to compare all three types of mixtures to gain conceptual clarity.

5th period Magnetic field lines (Class 8A Physics)

During the 5th period, the topic Magnetic Field Lines was taught to Class 8A using diagrams and real-life examples to help students visualize the direction and pattern of magnetic fields. The explanation focused on the properties of magnetic field lines, enabling students to clearly understand how they represent the strength and direction of a magnetic field.

Thursday – Diagnostic Test (Class 9, Chemistry)

A diagnostic test was conducted in the 3rd period to assess students’ understanding of true solutions, suspensions, and colloids. The test helped identify learning gaps and specific areas where students needed support. The results formed the basis for planning the upcoming remedial class.

Friday – Artificial Drinks (Class 9, Chemistry)

In the first period, students explored the chemistry behind artificial drinks—their composition, additives, and effects. This helped them relate chemistry concepts to real-life applications.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Monday – AIDS Day Awareness Class

An awareness class was conducted in connection with World AIDS Day. Students were introduced to the significance of the day, basic facts about HIV/AIDS, modes of transmission, and preventive measures. The session aimed to reduce stigma and promote responsible awareness among learners.

Tuesday – School Assembly & Pollution Control Day Quiz

The day began with the regular school assembly, followed by activities related to Pollution Control Day. A quiz competition was organised to help students understand the importance of pollution prevention and environmental protection. Students actively participated and demonstrated awareness of current environmental issues.

Wednesday – International Day for Persons with Disabilities

An awareness class and a short presentation were conducted to observe the International Day for Persons with Disabilities. The session highlighted inclusivity, respect, and the importance of creating equal opportunities for all. Students were encouraged to adopt empathetic attitudes towards individuals with disabilities.

Thursday – Navy Day Celebration Video Presentation

To commemorate Navy Day, students viewed a video presentation featuring the role, achievements, and contributions of the Indian Navy. The session helped them appreciate the bravery and dedication of naval officers and understand the significance of maritime security.

Friday – Soil Day Video Presentation

A video presentation was shown to observe World Soil Day. The content focused on soil conservation, types of soil, and the vital role soil plays in sustaining life. Students gained awareness of the need to protect this essential natural resource.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Monday – Mid-Day Meal Distribution

Mid-day meal distribution was carried out smoothly with the support of teachers and student volunteers. The activity ensured that all students received their meals on time, promoting nutritional well-being and reinforcing the school’s commitment to student welfare.

Thursday – Mid-Day Meal Distribution

The mid-day meal distribution was conducted again on Thursday, maintaining proper hygiene and orderliness. Students were guided to collect their meals responsibly, helping develop discipline and gratitude for the facility provided.

Friday – Right to Vote Awareness Class

An awareness class on the Right to Vote was organised, highlighting the importance of democratic participation. Since the school served as an important polling station, students were introduced to the significance of elections, voter responsibility, and the value of informed citizenship. The session aimed to instill democratic values and encourage future responsible voters.

CONCLUSION

This week proved to be productive and enriching, both academically and developmentally. Classroom sessions helped strengthen students’ understanding of key scientific concepts through demonstrations, diagnostic assessments, and remedial support. Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities such as awareness classes, video presentations, quizzes, and mid-day meal distribution contributed to holistic growth by promoting social responsibility, inclusivity, environmental awareness, and civic values. Overall, the week offered a balanced blend of learning experiences that supported intellectual development while nurturing life skills and community awareness among students.
