TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE I -WEEK 10

 TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE I

WEEK 10

06/10/2025- 08/10/2025

INTRODUCTION

The final week of Teaching Practice Phase 1 included remedial teaching, the introduction of innovative teaching aids, and various co-curricular activities such as school assembly, Shradha class, and exam invigilation. In addition, extracurricular activities like mid-day meal distribution and supervising students for the Eureka.

CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

06/10/2025 MONDAY

Today, I didn’t have any class periods as the SAY exam was being conducted.

07/10/2025 TUESDAY 1ST period

As part of the final phase of my teaching practice, I conducted the achievement test to evaluate the students’ understanding of the concepts taught. Based on the results, I carried out a diagnostic test to identify the specific areas where the learners faced difficulties. Through this analysis, I recognized that many students needed further clarification on the topic “Element Families.” To address this learning gap, I planned and implemented remedial teaching on the same topic, using an electronic working model of the Modern Periodic Table as an innovative teaching aid. This interactive model helped students visualize the arrangement of elements and understand their grouping more effectively, thereby enhancing their conceptual clarity and interest in the subject.

08/10/2025 Wednesday 3rd period

I evaluated my students’ grasp of Element Families today through a revision activity, employing the electronic periodic table model as a teaching aid.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

06/10/2025 Monday

Today, I undertook the responsibility of invigilating the SAY exam. During this period, I ensured that the examination was conducted in a smooth and disciplined manner, closely monitoring the students to maintain a fair and honest testing environment. My duties included verifying the students’ attendance, distributing question papers and answer sheets, clarifying procedural instructions, and addressing any issues that arose during the exam. This experience not only helped me contribute to the proper administration of the assessment but also enhanced my skills in classroom management and supervision under formal examination conditions.

Say exam Invigilation

07/10/2025 Tuesday

Today, I participated in the school assembly, which was conducted in an organized and disciplined manner. The assembly included activities such as the national anthem, prayer, thought of the day, and announcements. Students actively took part by presenting speeches, sharing news, and performing cultural or informative segments. The assembly provided an opportunity to reinforce values, build a sense of community, and encourage student participation, while also helping me observe and guide students in public speaking and presentation skills.

 EXTRA - CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

06/10/2025 MONDAY

Today, I assisted in the distribution of the mid-day meal to the students. This involved ensuring that each student received their meal in an orderly and hygienic manner, supervising the dining area to maintain discipline, and supporting students who needed help. This activity not only contributed to the smooth execution of the program but also allowed me to engage with the students outside the classroom, fostering a sense of care and responsibility.

 07/10/2025 TUESDAY

Today, I supervised and supported the students who were participating in the Eureka Meghala-level exam. My role involved ensuring that all students followed the examination guidelines, maintaining discipline in the exam hall, and providing any necessary assistance to help them focus and perform comfortably. I also monitored the timing and organization of the exam, making sure that the environment was calm and conducive for assessment. This experience allowed me to guide students in managing their exam-related stress and reinforced my responsibility in overseeing academic activities beyond regular classroom teaching.

BIWEEKLY REFLECTION

Biweekly Reflection

Teaching Practice: Weeks 9 and 10 (29/09/2025 – 08/10/2025)

Teaching–Learning Experiences

During Weeks 9 and 10 of my teaching practice, I continued handling Physics and Chemistry classes for Classes VIII and IX, covering topics such as Pressure Balance, Universal Law of Gravitation, Acceleration due to Gravity, Chemical Formulas of Salts, Element Families, Liquid Pressure, and Manometer. I focused on connecting theoretical concepts to real-life examples and practical demonstrations. For instance, while teaching pressure balance, I used examples like water flow through bottles, dams, and rubber suckers to make the concept relatable. Similarly, the use of problem-solving exercises in gravitational concepts and chemical formulas encouraged student participation and application of knowledge.

Remedial teaching was implemented in Week 10 for students struggling with Element Families. I used an electronic working model of the Modern Periodic Table as an innovative teaching aid, which helped students visualize element arrangements and their grouping. Revision activities following the remedial sessions ensured conceptual clarity and reinforced learning. These strategies improved my confidence in identifying learning gaps, addressing them effectively, and employing innovative tools to enhance comprehension.

Use of Teaching Aids

A variety of teaching aids were employed to strengthen understanding and engagement. Charts, activity cards, ICT images, and Samagra videos were extensively used to demonstrate concepts such as gravitational force, pressure, chemical formulas, and acceleration due to gravity. The electronic periodic table proved particularly effective in Week 10 for interactive remedial teaching. Using visual and hands-on aids allowed students to better grasp abstract ideas, encouraged curiosity, and facilitated active learning.

Co-Curricular Engagement

Co-curricular activities during these weeks provided opportunities to reinforce values, skills, and student participation beyond regular classroom teaching. I participated in assemblies, Shradha classes, quizzes such as the Gandhi Quiz, and school awareness programs like the Conscientization initiative on waste management. The Little Kites ICT Camp helped students develop digital skills, while competitions like Eureka Meghala-level exams and SAY exams encouraged focus, discipline, and confidence in assessment scenarios. Participating in these events allowed me to observe and support student development in public speaking, teamwork, and critical thinking.

Extra-Curricular Engagement

Engagement in extra-curricular activities highlighted the holistic role of a teacher. Assisting in mid-day meal distribution and iron tablet distribution emphasized student health, nutrition, and overall well-being. Supervising students during Eureka exams and invigilating the SAY exam strengthened my skills in maintaining discipline, providing support, and creating a conducive environment for learning and assessment. These experiences reinforced the significance of care, responsibility, and attention to students’ welfare in school life.

Personal Growth and Reflection

Over these two weeks, I experienced significant professional growth:

Lesson Planning and Delivery: I improved my ability to organize lessons, incorporate examples, and implement remedial strategies.

Student Engagement: Techniques like problem-solving exercises, interactive questioning, and use of teaching aids enhanced participation and understanding.

Innovative Methods: The use of electronic and visual aids encouraged curiosity, clarified concepts, and facilitated active learning.

Holistic Development Awareness: Participation in co-curricular and extra-curricular programs helped me understand the broader responsibilities of a teacher in shaping students’ moral, social, and physical well-being.

These weeks strengthened my perspective that teaching is not limited to content delivery but extends to guiding, supporting, and nurturing students in multiple dimensions of development.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, this week has been a rewarding and enriching experience. Through remedial teaching, innovative learning aids, and active participation in co-curricular and extracurricular activities, I was able to enhance students’ learning and overall development. The experience reinforced my understanding of a teacher’s role in both academic guidance and holistic student support, and it has motivated me to continue improving my teaching and supervisory skills.
